Notice of Value

In 2008, we began sending all residential properties a Notice of Value Letter.  Other classifications of properties will continue to receive a Notice of Value Card. Notices of Value for the 2011 Tax Year were mailed February 1st, 2010.  Remember, this is not a tax bill; but the assessed values are the amounts used by the County Treasurer to determine your tax bill for the year stated on your letters or cards.

We encourage all property owners to review their Notice of Value Letters or Cards carefully.

If you question the value of your property, we encourage you to do the following:

  • In reviewing your value it is important to ask yourself; “How does the Assessor’s estimate of value relate to what I think is a reasonable value for my property?”
  • If you do not believe your property or home would sell for the Assessor’s estimate of value, you may wish to review sales of properties in your area that are similar to yours.
  • If you believe the Assessor’s value is too high, you may choose to submit a “Petition for Review of Valuation” by filing form DOR 82130 with the County Assessor. These appeal forms may downloaded from the Appeal Forms page, and are also available at either of the  Assessor's Office locations.
  • Follow the instructions carefully and return the completed form to the Assessor by the date printed on your “Notice of Value.”
